New to Yoga?

Rather than being placed into a fast-paced class with little instruction, new students at Urban Sadhu Yoga are welcomed with a thoughtful, step-by-step approach. If you're curious about yoga but not sure where to begin—or whether yoga is for you—you’ve found the right place. Our method ensures each student has an optimal experience from day one.

You Can Start Where You Are

Yoga isn't about being flexible. It's about learning to connect with your body, your breath, and gain a focused awareness with intention. No matter your age background, or level of experience, our classes are designed to help you start where you are

Start with Fundamentals

Start with the Fundamentals

Our Urban Sadhu Yoga Fundamentals of Yoga and Foundational Vinyasa program is an 8-week course designed to provide a strong foundation for students who are new to yoga—or anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of asana alignment.

Students learn alignment principles, how to use props, and key tips from the Urban Sadhu Yoga Method that create a lifelong practice. This series is taught in two parts:

Part 1: Fundamentals of Yoga (level 1)

A yoga 101 experience in a workshop style class

Students learn alignment principles, how to use props, and key tips from the Urban Sadhu Yoga Method that create a lifelong practice.

  • Week 1: Standing Asanas

  • Week 2: Forward Fold Asanas

  • Week 3: Back Bending Asanas

  • Week 4: Putting It All Together

Example Week 2 Fundamentals Class

Part 2: Foundational Vinyasa (level 2)

An slow mindful vinyasa style class

This next stage helps students transition confidently into vinyasa-style classes by building on their skills:

  • Week 1: Standing Asanas

  • Week 2: Forward Fold Asanas

  • Week 3: Back Bending Asanas

  • Week 4: Putting It All Together

Here you will learn the 5 elements of Vinyasas

  • Ujiya Pranayama

  • Muhla Bandha

  • Higher Intension

  • Dristi (gaze)

  • Uninterrupted Movement (graceful)

This progressive format bridges the gap between Fundamentals and Open Classes, giving students a strong grasp of flow, breath, and movement.

I've attended Austin's 'Fundamentals' class, which is a 4-week course focusing on different aasanas. For anyone looking to learn the proper techniques, I would highly recommend the class- it is by far the best one around for learning. Austin is a great teacher with in-depth knowledge, and helps students refine their form and ensure proper execution. The class is calming and extremely enjoyable- would highly recommend!
